Collaborate With Us as an Artist

Calling creative souls of all visual abilities! We’re currently looking for artists excited to join us in creating works facilitating a visually inclusive visual arts experience.

Perhaps you wish to explore the tactile, olfactory, auditory, or lighting dimensions of visual artworks. Perhaps you have your own ideas about making art for all kinds of eyes! If so, we’d love to collaborate with you!

Specifically, we’re looking for artists to create exhibition pieces for a visually inclusive arts exhibit that will debut in Iowa City in early fall 2025. The exhibit will then move to Fairfield in the late fall 2025. Artists will be asked to do the following:

  1. Attend 2-3 meetings with the collaborative group to brainstorm and discuss ideas for the exhibit and venue. Meetings will be held online (virtually) in April and will not last longer than 1 hour at a time.

  2. Create at least 1 artwork for the exhibit. Works must be completed and submitted to the Visual Spectrums exhibition managers by the end of August 2025.

  3. Document your process and progress from time to time with photos or images or short video or audio clips that we can share online to help promote the debuting exhibit.

Artists will receive a small $50 stipend for time spent in meetings as well as $150 for art supplies. Artists will retain the rights to their work(s) and will have their pieces returned at the end of the exhibit (late December 2025). Artists are also free to sell their works during the exhibit (as long as patrons understand that the pieces must remain on display at the exhibit until it ends in late December 2025).

We’re hoping to work with artists of all kinds of visual abilities. If you’re interested in joining our collaborative group, please fill out the following form, and we will be in touch with you shortly!
